What Is Life Program?

LIFE program is the only financial instrument of the European Union dedicated exclusively for project co-financing in the field of environmental and climate protection. Its main objective is to support the implementation process of Community Environmental Law, implementation of the EU policy in this area as well as identification and promotion of new solutions to environmental problems including nature.

During its 20 years of its existence, almost 4 180 projects from all over Europe, including 69 from Poland were co-financing by the European Commission. The current Program LIFE-action program for the environment and climate, including the financial perspective 2014-2020, is a continuation of financial instrument of the LIFE+  functioning between  2007 and 2013.

The National Environmental Protection and Water Management Fund has served since 2008 as the National Contact Point LIFE and supports Polish Applicants by proposing an innovative and unique  program of additional project co-financing in Europe. Thanks to such a solution, there are currently 64 LIFE projects implemented in Poland with a budget of almost PLN 620 million supported by the  National Environmental Protection and Water Management Fund amounting to PLN 260 million.
